If I had to define myself, I would say that in a previous life I must
have been an Amazonian woman because as far back as I remember I have
always had a passion for horses.
At the age when other little girls played with dolls, I played horse: I
built stables and obstacle courses for my imaginary horses, each of
which was more beautiful than the other.
I didn’t run, I galloped. I didn’t laugh, I
neighed. I even managed to worry my parents due to such an obsession!
When I was about three years old, my father finally let me ride a
horse. His constant harping to teach me how to mount correctly
didn’t discourage me. I was set loose: I could ride a horse!
Many years of learning followed before I began to participate in
horse-shows and hurdling competitions with my marvelous little pony: My
Love.
At school I would daydream while sketching horses on my folders,
although my teachers thought of me as a studious and attentive
student…
Then, after many years of studying interior architecture (seven years!)
and with two diplomas under my belt, I set up my own business. I
designed and carried out layout projects for companies and private
clients for eight years. My horses were far off and I missed them
terribly!
Constantly thinking back to the time when my pastimes were entirely
devoted to horses, I allowed my passion to catch up with me:
what’s bred in the bone will come out in the flesh.
I purchased a wonderful black Spanish thoroughbred stallion and I
returned to riding. Training: rigor and precision! At the same time, I
took up drawing again, and wanted to make a eulogy to this wonderful
animal, a companion of mankind for so long that it has played an
important role in our history.
Through my work, I strive to communicate what one feels while riding a
horse: lightness and grace, power and fervor.
